Bitter cold weather approaching Tri-State

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

wind chill advisory has been issued for parts of the Tri-State as bitter cold weather approaches.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind child advisory for Union, Franklin, Butler, Clinton and Warren counties from 8 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

A wind chill advisory is issued when a strong wind will combine with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for exposed skin. The wind will make it feel like it is between
10 and 24 degrees below zero for a period of several hours.

FOX19 Meteorologist Katy Morgan says arctic air is settling across the Tri-State. We won't see much of a warm up on Monday as we start the day in low 20's and climb to a high of about 25 degrees. Mostly cloudy skies will give way to mainly sunny skies by the afternoon, but with a breezy wind of 10 to 20 mph, wind chills will be brutal.  It will feel like the teens through the afternoon, and overnight wind chills will drop well below zero.

A weak wave moving through Monday morning could bring a few flurries, otherwise we'll just see cloud cover.

Tuesday is even colder, although sunny, with highs in the teens for the afternoon, and wind chills in the single digits.

Our next system, moving in Thursday/Friday could bring a round of wintry weather to the tristate, we'll be watching it closely.
