Black bear seen in Symmes Twp

SYMMES TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A small black bear has been seen recently by five or six people in the area around Symmes Township Park.

The sightings were first reported by a couple of weeks ago. Township administrator Gerald Beckman says the reports were believable, so they notified neighbors and put up warning signs in the area. They have received several more reports since then.

The sightings have happened both in the park, the old Rozzi Fireworks property that is now owned by the township for future park development, and properties neighboring those properties.

The township and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources are not doing anything about the bear except to tell people to stay away from it and leave it alone.
