Registration opens for fourth Cincinnati Panerathon 5K

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Panera Bread is supporting the Cincinnati community with its fourth annual Panerathon 5K to support Children’s Hunger Alliance.

This year's event is Saturday, September 10, 2011, with a Kids Fun Run – starting at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K Race at 9:00 a.m. Participants of all ages are welcome.

The race will start at Panera Bread in Union Center in West Chester, 9444 Civic Center Boulevard.

Liberty Township getting ready for run and parade on the Fourth

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, BUTLER COUNTY OH (FOX19) - Liberty Township will hold a 5K Run and Walk at 8:00 a.m. on the 4th of July, followed by a parade at 9:00 a.m.

If you are trying to drive on the affected streets, you can either go around or find a place to park and watch the events.

Registration for the 5K is from 7:00 a.m. - 7:45 a.m., with the run starting at 8:00 a.m.

Senator Bill Coley honors Lakota East baseball team for winning State

State Senator Bill Coley (R- Liberty Township) recognized members of the Lakota East High School baseball team on the floor of the Ohio Senate for winning the Division I State Championship. Coley presented the team and their coach Ray Hamilton with a resolution honoring their achievement during the Senate session.

"These young men have been a tremendous source of pride for their school and the entire Lakota community this season, and I am proud to be able to recognize them before the Senate," Coley said. "Their hard work and dedication has brought them success both on and off the field, and I wish all the players and coaches best wishes in their future endeavors."

This is the first state title in any sport for Lakota East, which defeated Perrysburg 6-2 to win the championship.

On October 29th, Johnny Bench, Jim Kaat, Steve Garvey, Ryne Sandberg, Ozzie Smith, Mike Schmidt, Andre Dawson, Al Kaline and Roberto Clemente Jr.

FAIRFIELD, OH(FOX 19)- There may be a lockout; but, that’s not stopping Kevin Huber from staying ‘locked’ in to reaching out to the community.  Kevin, a University of Cincinnati alum and Bengals Punter in the 2010 season will be making an appearance at Mercy HealthPlex Fairfield to raise money and awareness for Sojourner Recovery Services.  Kevin was appointed as the Ambassador for Sojourner Recovery Services for 2011.  During the next nine months, Kevin will be making appearances and bringing awareness to the need for drug and alcohol addiction treatment services.  “Kevin is a great local role model and has been instrumental in assisting several charities in the Greater Cincinnati area.”  commented John Keuffer, Development Director for Sojourner.

SHARONVILLE (FOX19) - Bob Huggins has been gone from UC for years now, but he's hardly been gone from Cincinnati.

The latest case in point: Huggins will be the guest speaker at the 5th annual Cincinnati Sports Professionals Network (CSPN) Awards Banquet May 9 at the Sharonville Convention Center.

The event pays tribute to athletes, sports professionals, businesses and events for their accomplishments in 2010.

Tickets, which include dinner and the program, cost $75 per person or $700 for a table of 10. Student tickets are also available for $35. FOR VIP, which includes a private reception with Coach Huggins & all award recipients before the event are $100/person or $900/table of 10.
