Kings Island’s not open yet, but they’re hard at work

MASON, OH (FOX19) – With this year’s warm early spring weather, you might think Kings Island was already open, but that event is still 2 and a half weeks away.

In this photo from KI, painters give the fountain inside the main entrance a touch up Tuesday in preparation of the 364-acre amusement and water park’s 40th anniversary season.  The fountain was built when the park was being constructed in 1971 and remains one of the nation’s largest animated fountains, shooting more than 10,000 gallons of water into the air at any time.

Kings Island opens for the 2012 season April 28.  Daily operation begins May 11.
