Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church Celebrates 20 Years of Inclusion

CINCINNATI, OH) - Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church (MAPC) - one of the most progressive and inclusive churches in the Tri-state - will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of its "Policy on the Inclusion of Gays and Lesbians" on Sunday, August 14 during its 11:00 AM worship service and post-worship coffee hour. The historic church is located at 103 William Howard Taft Road, adjacent to the University of Cincinnati. Reporters / camera crews are welcome at the celebration events or pre- or post-event day interviews may be scheduled.

The celebration service will be led by MAPC's pastor, The Rev. Susan Quinn Bryan, and will include a sermon by More Light Presbyterians' (MLP) Executive Director, Michael Adee - the first openly gay man to be ordained an Elder at MAPC shortly after the adoption of its Inclusion Policy.

Photographers do battle in MetroParks contest


WEST CHESTER (FOX19) - The MetroParks of Butler County are holding their annual contest for nature photos taken in local parks.

Entries are being accept now through the end of the month.  People of every age and ability are invited to submit up to five photos taken in the MetroParks fo Butler County.

Voting will take place from July 1 to 15, with winners being named on July 18th.

CONTEST RULES:

1. Competition is open to all photographers (amateur and professional) and is FREE! Participation is not restricted by residency or age; however, all photos entered must have been taken in a MetroParks of Butler County park area.

2. Deadline for entries is June 30th at 11:59pm EST (by email).

The MetroParks of Butler County and Butler County Visitors Bureau have had an Economic Impact Study done regarding the Athletic Field Complex portion of the Voice of America Enhancement Plan.

Dedication of "boundless playground" in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - West Chester Township will celebrate the grand opening of the Beckett Park Boundless Playground at a special "kid-friendly" event from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8. Families are invited to to play on the new equipment while enjoying hot chocolate and popcorn. West Chester will recognize the contributions of Procter & Gamble, CVS Caremark, and Boundless Playground in the development of this inclusive playground which encourages all children to play together.

Construction of the playground was funded by a $100,000 dollar grant from The P&G Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation as part of P&G's Live, Learn and Thrive global cause to improve the lives of children in need.

Tailgate lunch in West Chester

WEST CHESTER (FOX19) - West Chester Township will present the First Financial Tailgate Party during lunchtime Wednesday.

The event is at on The Square at Union Centre, 9285 Centre Pointe Drive from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

There will be food for sale from Raffel Catering, music from DJ Johnnie B, and football toss and cornhole.

The township is encouraging visitors to wear their school colors and be prepared to hum a few bars of their school fight song. The event has been held previously, so it appears the fight songs have not led to any actual fights.

Beckett Park development on track

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19)- West Chester is currently making improvements to Beckett Park. The park’s lakes have been dredged so they can be enlarged and grading is taking place to accommodate walking trails, picnic shelters, parking areas and more.  

The project is very visible and has drawn interest from passers-by.
