Wakeboard National Championships begin in West Chester | Events
WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - For the first time in its 23-year history, the Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink is being held in the state of Ohio.
The four-day event will be held on August 2-5 at the Voice of America Park (VOA) in West Chester, just north of Cincinnati, Ohio.
“We’re excited to bring the Nautique WWA Nationals to the Voice of America Park,” said tournament director Chris Bischoff. “The park has the layout, vibe and local support we’re looking for to host an event of this magnitude.”
Over the course of the four-day event, West Chester expects to welcome more than 200 competitive riders, professional and amateur, from across the United States to compete in 22 skill-level divisions for national titles.
Results will establish the athletes to represent the United States at the WWA Wakeboard World Championships later this year.
“We are excited to host this prestigious professional event. To have West Chester serve as a host for a such exceptional event will have a tremendous economic impact for the venue, local businesses, hotels, restaurants, attractions, and shopping venues” stated Mark Hecquet, Executive Director of the BCVB.
The selection process is very competitive. “Many sites across the country were considered; we are pleased VOA, West Chester and Butler County were chosen as Ohio’s first host of the Nautique WWA Nationals.” says, Jason Williams, BCVB Senior Sports Sales Manager.
This is not the first time the WWA has held an event in the county. A sister event, the Wake Park Nationals, was held at Wake Nation in Fairfield in 2010.
