WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - West Chester Hospital has been named a recipient of the 2013 Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades, the leading resource that helps consumers search, evaluate, compare and connect with physicians and hospitals. This award places West Chester Hospital in a select group of hospitals that demonstrate outstanding performance in the delivery of positive experiences for patients during their hospital stay or visit.

This is the second consecutive year that West Chester Hospital has received the Outstanding Patient Experience Award.

To become eligible for the Healthgrades 2013 Outstanding Patient Experience Award, West Chester Hospital was required to meet the clinical quality threshold for this award and must have obtained data for a minimum number of Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys:

Police search for missing West Chester man

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) -West Chester Police have issued a Missing Adult Alert for an elderly man suffering from dementia.

Michael Hayward, 80, was last seen at 11:00 a.m. Saturday on Woodland Hills Drive. Authorities say Hayward was expected to be en route to the Milford area from West Chester.

Hayward suffers from dementia, diabetes and other medical conditions and may be in need of medications.

Police believe that Hayward is driving a dark blue 2001 Ford F150 with Ohio plates FSV9660.

Anyone with information on Hayward's whereabouts is asked to call 1-866-693-9171 or call 911.

Skin health seminar being held at UC West Chester Hospital

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - A free seminar is being held in West Chester to educate the public on the importance of skin health care.

The seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15 from 7pm - 8:30pm and will be repeated on Saturday, May 18 from 9am - 10:30am at West Chester Hospital.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, one in five people will develop skin cancer. It’s a well-known fact that sun exposure is the biggest cause of melanoma and other skin cancers. However, early diagnosis and treatment can increase the survival rate for those diagnosed with skin cancer.

The seminars will help people learn about taking proper care of your skin as you age, avoiding the dangers of sun exposure and lowering the risk of being diagnosed with skin cancer. These seminars will feature the region’s leading physician specialists who specialize in dermatology, oncology, plastic surgery and primary care medicine.

Line up announced for After-Hours on the Square summer concerts

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - The 2013 season of the First Financial Bank After-Hours on The Square concert series kicks off Thursday, May 23.

The popular after work party that signals an early start to the weekend will once again feature great regional bands, and even more food and beverage choices. Naked Karate Girls, Lt. Dan’s New Legs and My Sister Sarah are just a few of the bands headlining this year’s concert series.

The concerts are from 6 to 9 p.m. each Thursday on The Square @ Union Centre, 9285 Centre Pointe Drive. The Square is located off I-75, just west of Muhlhauser Road, with nearby parking and  is free and open to the public.

Alcohol cannot be brought into the concert due to restrictions of the liquor permit. Proceeds from beverage sales benefit the event and local non-profit groups.

Organizational restructuring reduces costs and increases efficiency

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - The West Chester Township Board of Trustees unanimously approved Tuesday an organizational restructuring that increases operational efficiency and reduces costs by approximately $70,000.

The Board of Trustees approved to merge the West Chester Community Television Department with the township’s Public Information Office to create the Integrated Multimedia & Marketing Department. The new department will use all of the Township’s multimedia and marketing resources, including social media platforms, website, graphic design and illustration, video production, and operations and assets of West Chester Community Television to achieve all of the Township’s public information, events, and marketing endeavors.
